Father Steven Girard was ordained on November 22, 1974. In 2002, Girard admitted to picking up male prostitutes and smoking crack cocaine in the St. Clement rectory. In 2004, a man reported that Girard sexually abused him in 1991 in 3rd grade at St. Clement. The abuse consisted of oral and anal rape, and he threatened that if the boy told anyone, he would be castrated. The Archdiocese agreed to cover the cost of therapy for the victim, but he died by suicide in February 2005. Due to the unavailability of the complainant and a lack of information, the Congregation for Doctrine of the Faith did not pursue further action. Girard died on January 18, 2018.
