Father John Bostwick was ordained on May 17, 1969. There are multiple credible accusations of sexual abuse against Father Bostwick. In April 1996, a report was made to the Diocese of Richmond regarding allegations of inappropriate behavior involving Bostwick and a minor. The incidents were said to have occurred between 1980 and 1982 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, while Bostwick was serving at Saint Catherine Laboure. According to a report, Bostwick engaged in harmful behaviors that violated trust boundaries, causing distress to the individual involved. The Diocese took immediate action, placing Bostwick on administrative leave and requesting his return to Richmond for further investigation.
Subsequently, in August 1996, another individual came forward alleging Bostwick sexually abused them in 1987 when the individual was a teenager. The Diocese of Richmond responded by suspending Bostwick and urging him to undergo a comprehensive psychological evaluation at St. Luke Institute. He left the ministry in 1996.
