Father George Loskarn was ordained in 1965. In June 2002, a man reported that Loskarn groomed and sexually assaulted him between 1965 and 1969, beginning when the survivor was 12. Loskarn would take him on trips out of state to Harper’s Ferry, Ocean City, and Lake Champlain in New York. The abuse consisted of inappropriate touching, fondling, and masturbation.
The man approached Loskarn more than 30 years later, threatening to disclose the matter. Loskarn claimed that he had received treatment and offered the survivor money asking him to wait three years until he retired. When confronted by the Archdiocese, Loskarn admitted to having an “inappropriate relationship” with the man and abusing another survivor. The second survivor came forward in July 2013, detailing similar forms of abuse by Loskarn and an instance where a nun slapped and beat him for reporting the allegation. George Loskarn died on June 19, 2014.
