In 1999, a survivor reported that Father Alfred Ewanowski sexually abused him at Archbishop Curley High School. There is no record of the school, the Order, or the Archdiocese reporting the incident until the survivor’s second report in 2003. During the investigation conducted by the Office of the Attorney General, it was revealed that Ewanowski would use his position as a teacher over victims, having them conduct “special assignments” to pass classes. These “assignments” consisted of having survivors change into gym clothes before him prior to him engaging in inappropriate touching.
A second survivor came forward with similar allegations in 2013, informing authorities that Ewanowski would “dry hump” him. A 2015 civil settlement related to other abusers mentioned Ewanowski’s history of sexual abuse. Alfred Ewanowski died on October 18, 1990.
