Father Marion Helowicz was ordained on May 18, 1974. In March 1988, a survivor reported to the Baltimore County Police Department that Helowicz sexually abused him when he was 16 years old from 1981 until 1984. The abuse included fondling, masturbation, digital penetration, and oral rape. Helowicz later admitted to the abuse and was sent to treatment. Police reports indicate that an ‘unidentified’ person from the Archdiocese attempted to obtain the survivor’s silence.
On April 3, 1988, Helowicz admitted to abusing a second boy. In March 1993, an additional survivor reported that Helowicz abused him in 8th grade at St. John the Evangelist in Severna Park. Neither mandatory report was made until 2002, and he was laicized on April 6, 2017.
