Corbett, John (Msgr.)

Monsignor John Corbett was ordained in June 1909 and was accused of sexually abusing multiple victims at St. Mary, Star of the Sea School in South Baltimore during the 1940s, 1950s, and possibly beyond. The survivors, including girls in third through seventh grade, reported incidents of abuse such as fondling, genital exposure, and digital rape. The abuse occurred in various locations, including Corbett’s office, rectory, and bedroom. Some survivors mentioned the presence of other girls during the abuse.

Several reports were made to the Archdiocese, with varying responses and records of those reports. In 2019, the Archdiocese listed Corbett as credibly accused of abuse. However, detailed information regarding discussions by the Independent Child Abuse Review Board is heavily redacted. Corbett died on March 12, 1957.
