Father Brian Cox, born and raised in Panama, was ordained as a priest in 1968. In 1994, Cox admitted to a parish secretary that he had briefly touched the genitals of thirteen-year-old boy years prior. The secretary informed two individuals, but the matter was not reported. Later, Cox admitted to engaging in inappropriate conduct with three victims, including oral rape and fondling. The Archdiocese reported these incidents to civil authorities.
Cox underwent psychiatric treatment but ignored instructions to stay in treatment and returned to Resurrection Farm. Additional individuals came forward in subsequent years to report similar abuse and inappropriate interactions with Cox. In the interviews, he admitted to carrying out multiple instances of abuse, including fondling multiple young boys and orally raping one. He was indicted in 2002 and served nine months in prison after pleading guilty to sexual abuse charges. Cox was laicized in 2003.
