Father Vincent Bechtel was ordained on May 27th, 1950, and served in various teaching and school administration roles until his retirement in 1989. In 1986, two teenage boys disclosed to counselors that a faculty member matching Bechtel’s description had solicited sexual activity. In 2018, a survivor contacted Mount St. Joseph High School and reported that Bechtel inappropriately touched him when he was a 15/16-year-old student. Though the school claimed it reported the abuse to “civil authorities,” there is no documentation of the incident. Bechtel died on September 19, 1994.
