Father Michael LaMountain was ordained in 1976. There are several credible reports of sexual abuse against him. In 1993, a survivor reported to police that LaMountain had sexually abused him, but LaMountain was not charged. He reported the abuse again in 2001, detailing LaMountain’s history of inappropriate touching and forced masturbation at various locations. The mother of another victim reported that her son had spent time with LaMountain and another seminarian, Vernon Dahmen, who was also accused of child abuse. Sadly, her son passed away prior to the report.
LaMountain served as a pastor in Rhode Island after completing his studies at St. Mary’s Seminary and was accused of sexually abusing five boys in the 1990s. He pled guilty to the charges in 1999 and received suspended sentences. He died on August 25, 2010.
