Father James Toulas was ordained on June 20, 1954. In 1993, a survivor came forward to report that Toulas sexually abused him in 1969 or 1970. When the survivor was fourteen, Toulas fondled his genitals on several occasions. Toulas admitted to the abuse.
The abuse occurred on car rides and when Toulas gave the victim a Blessed Virgin Mary medal and chain as a gift. The survivor reported the abuse to a janitor who reported the abuse to another priest. This report was not written down, and only reemerged after the survivor came forward twenty-three years later. Toulas may have abused other altar boys. He died in 2000.
