Father George Hopkins was ordained on May 30, 1939. In 1965, Hopkins was moved to a parish in Western Maryland due to his romantic relationship with a woman he counseled through a divorce. When the Archdiocese was informed of this relationship, Hopkins was sent for mental treatment in Iowa. After brief stints in Cumberland, MD, and Tennessee, Hopkins left the priesthood.
In 2002, a woman reported that Hopkins sexually abused her when she attended the Cathedral School in 1st through 3rd grades. In 2007, a woman reported to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles that in 1951 when she was twenty-five years old, Hopkins raped her. He died in September 1980.
