Father Carl Fisher was ordained on June 2, 1973. There are several credible accusations of sexual abuse against him. In December 2002, a man reported that Fisher sexually abused him, including oral and anal rape, between 1976 and 1978 at St. Veronica’s church. He attempted to maintain a relationship via mail with the survivor after he left Baltimore. In 2004, a man reported that Fisher sexually abused him in 1972-73 in the rectory at St. Veronica’s. At a hearing before a committee of the Maryland General Assembly in March 2005, a man publicly reported that Fisher sexually abused him throughout his teens during the 1970s.
Two women, one in 2009 and the other in 2010, reported that Fisher sexually abused them at St. Veronica’s in the 1970s and that Fisher often offered them money to remain quiet. One of the survivors, then aged fourteen, attempted suicide after her mother tried to convince her to return to St. Veronica’s church. Fisher died on September 2, 1993.
