Arrested and charged in 6/1999 with indecency with a child during the summer of 1998. Indicted by a grand jury in 8/1999. Charges dismissed in 10/2001 “in light of the impact on the victim” if the case went to trial and because the boy asked that the case not be pursued. As of 3/2002 Olivas was still on leave pending a Church investigation. In 2016 the El Paso Diocese reduced their support payments to Olivas, who responded by suing the Diocese for age discrimination.
