McGuire, Eugene (Fr.)

Father Eugene McGuire was ordained on December 19, 1943. In 1993, a woman reported that McGuire sexually abused her from 1962 to 1966, when she was 7 to 11 years old, and a student at St. Joseph’s Monastery School. The abuse consisted of hundreds of instances of digital penetration and forced masturbation. Another priest, Daniel Free, was reportedly aware of the abuse but did nothing. In 2002, a man reported that McGuire sexually abused him in the late 1940s or early 1950s, as did priests Benedict Mawn and Cuthbert Sullivan. In 2019, another survivor reported that McGuire sexually abused him between 1970 and 1972. The abuse included oral rape and fondling. McGuire died on November 21, 1984.
