Father Joseph Gallagher was ordained on May 28, 1955. In 1986, the Archdiocese was informed by a survivor’s mother that Gallagher sexually abused her 14-year-old son in 1980 in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. He admitted having an “inappropriate” encounter with the boy but denied “genital touching.” Gallagher’s abuse was not reported until the survivor’s third attempt in 2002. Gallagher died on September 15, 2015.
