Fr. Louis Affrica was ordained by the Archdiocese of Baltimore in 1975 after serving eleven years as a Brother of the Holy Cross and a teacher at Bishop McNamara School. There are at least two credible accusations of sexual abuse against him. In 2005, a survivor accused him of sexual abuse between 1973 and 1976, when Affrica organized retreats with teenage boys from the Baltimore parish and Washington, D.C, that involved the consumption of alcohol and marijuana. In 2007, a survivor reported that Fr. Affrica sexually abused her after introducing her to whiskey when he was assigned to St. Ann’s Parish in Hagerstown in the 1970s. He took a leave of absence in 1981 and did not return to the ministry. He died on June 5, 2016.
