Father Bruce Ball was ordained on May 27th, 1978, by the Diocese of La Crosse, Wisconsin, after working as a seminarian at Villa Maria and the Shrine of the Sacred Heart School in Mount Washington. Ball also served as a chaplain to the Boy Scouts of America. While Ball was ultimately convicted of child sexual abuse in Wisconsin, at least two victims were reported in Baltimore when Ball was at the Shrine of the Sacred Heart.
In 1990, a survivor notified the Wisconsin diocese of being sexually abused by Father Ball from 1976 to 1978 while Ball was assigned to the Shrine of the Sacred Heart in Baltimore City. The survivor reported inappropriate touching and solicitation while in gym class and at his family home in Baltimore. In 1991, in Clark County, Wisconsin, Ball was criminally charged with child sexual abuse and admitted to sexually abusing four boys at the parish.
