Father Francis McGrath was ordained in 1978. In 1995, a man reported to the Archdiocese that McGrath had sexually abused him in 1970 or 1971. The abuse consisted of fondling and solicitation. McGrath spent time at St. Luke Institute for treatment, but records do not indicate why. In June 2002, a man reported that McGrath sexually abused him in 1975 as a freshman at Calvert Hall. Since then, several reports have surfaced of McGrath’s history of sexually abusing children, often building friendships with victims and manipulating or threatening them if they attempted to report the abuse. The record of abuses included kissing, fondling, oral rape, digital penetration, and masturbation, and occurred in various locations throughout Maryland and New Jersey.
